Frequently Asked Questions

Is German hard to learn? German is not more difficult to learn than other languages. With some persistence and tenacity, you should be able to hold a basic conversation in German after a few lessons.

How to learn German fast? Try immersing yourself in the German language. Take regular lessons and revise routinely. Learn vocabulary, making it a habit from the start to learn the genders of nouns and the flexion of verbs. Read, watch, speak and listen to as much German as possible.

Is German grammar hard to learn? Grammar is part of learning German as a foreign language. But the key is to learn vocabulary, and you will find the grammar falls into place.

What type of German dialect should I learn? The best is to learn High German (Hochdeutsch), which we teach and is widely understood and written in all German-speaking countries.

When can I start with my lessons or course? You can begin any time throughout the year.

Where do lessons and courses take place? At your office or home in London and online. If you would rather have lessons at our office, we can arrange that as well.

When are lessons available? Mondays to Fridays from 8 am to 8 pm and at weekends from 9 am – 5 pm. Lesson timings are flexible from week to week.

How many lessons do I need to take every week? We recommend taking lessons twice a week with sufficient time for revision between lessons.

Who conducts the lessons? One dedicated German tutor is assigned to you.

Does the tutor speak English? Our Tutors are all native German speakers and fluent in English.

Are lessons conducted in German only? That depends on your level of German. If you are at a lower intermediate level, we will conduct lessons only in German. Beginners find it beneficial if our tutors explain some aspects in English. But the choice is yours.

What type of course material do I need? We provide all course material except dictionaries. Learners looking to pass the European Reference Framework for Languages exam (A1, A2, B1, etc.) will need to buy a course book, which we can advise you on.

Which dictionary do I need to buy? Once we have assessed your German, we can recommend a suitable dictionary.

What does the service include? An assessment of your German language skills, a tailored learning program, tuition, course material, homework and a constant review of your skill level.

How long do lessons last? Our experience has shown that 90 minutes is optimal for short lessons.

What about the tutor’s travel charges? Travel charges do not apply within Central London.

How do I pay? By BACS, credit or debit card, cheque, cash.

When do I pay? Full payment must reach us at least 48 hours in advance to confirm a lesson or course.

What if I have to cancel a lesson? That is no problem at all. Flexibility is important. However, if you cancel a lesson 48 hours or less before starting, we will charge you for the entire lesson or course.

Do you teach other languages as well? We only teach German but recommend the following providers for other languages: Lingua Clinic for Spanish.
