Online German lessons with a native tutor

One-to-one German lessons delivered online, taught by the same native German tutors who teach our in-person students in London. Lessons follow the same syllabus and method as our in-person tuition, and online students progress through the CEFR levels at the same rate as those learning face to face.

Lessons run for 60 or 90 minutes and are arranged around your schedule. Every course begins with an assessment of your current level and what you want to achieve, and the syllabus is the same as for our one-to-one tuition in London.

How online German lessons work

Course material, exercises and texts are shared on screen and worked through together, which suits written work and grammar practice well. Corrections happen in real time, and homework is set at the end of each lesson, as in person.

Who online lessons suit

Online tuition works particularly well for:

  • Professionals based outside London who want an experienced native German tutor.
  • Frequent travellers whose schedules make a fixed weekly appointment at a fixed address impractical.
  • Students who began lessons in London and have since relocated, in the UK or abroad, and want to continue with the same tutor.
  • Anyone whose working pattern changes from week to week and who needs to join lessons from different locations.
  • Corporate teams spread across several offices, where bringing everyone to one location is not realistic. Online delivery works well for corporate German training where participants are at different locations.

The same lessons, delivered differently

Our tutors are native German speakers with professional teaching experience, and they teach online exactly as they teach in person. Courses run from complete beginner through to advanced and business German, following the recognised CEFR levels from A1 to C2.

Lessons focus on active use of the language. Speaking and listening form the core of each session, supported by grammar and vocabulary relevant to your own context, whether that is a business meeting, a citizenship exam, a relocation or personal interest. Progress is reviewed regularly and the plan adjusted as you go.

Self-study between lessons matters as much online as in person. We recommend roughly the same time again on homework and regular exposure to German, which keeps progress on schedule.

Questions about online lessons

Do you teach online, and where can I join from?

Yes. We teach German online at all levels, anywhere in the world, within the same hours as our lessons in London: Monday to Friday from 8 am to 8 pm and at weekends from 9 am to 5 pm, UK time. Online lessons are one to one, with the same tutor throughout.

How long is an online lesson?

Online lessons are 60 or 90 minutes. In our experience, 90 minutes is the length at which adult learners make steady progress without losing concentration.

What do online lessons cost?

Online lessons cost the same as private lessons: £65 to £90 an hour, depending on the time of day and the length of your commitment.

Which video platform do you use?

We teach on Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

Can I continue online if I move away from London?

Yes. Students who began lessons in London and have since moved, in the UK or abroad, continue online with the same tutor.
